How Stressed Are You?
Have you ever participated in a 30 day challenge? As mentioned in an earlier post, I’m smack dab in the middle of one.
The thing about challenges, they test your resolve. Life pulls you in one direction, the challenge in another, your career a third and family still one more. Then someone asks, “How Stressed Are You?”
You might think my response would be, ARE YOU KIDDING???!!!!??? WHY DOOO YOUUU EVEN BOTHER TO ASSSKKKK???? OF COURSE I’M STRESSED! But, I’m not. Most people involved are, yet, I have learned sure fire techniques that keep me unerringly centered.
If people get so easily stressed by challenges, why then would anyone ever decide to participate in one?
Because they force you to take massive amounts of action rather then spend months of analysis paralysis. You don’t have time to think, “Is this the right choice?” You learn by doing and discover what doesn’t often work. Then you find the answer was sitting there teasing you all along. The solution is always amazingly simple.
The other benefit is there is a community that gets established of like minded people working on a similar objective. Each one of you is struggling the same way.
While you are alone on your own specific tasks, you can get insights from other’s failures. Maybe “failures” is the wrong word. Breakdowns, stoppages, missteps are more descriptive of the interruptions and sidetracks that eat up endless amounts of time.
If the group has some real courage, friendships are forged and common bonds established. Partnerships unfurl as you broaden your awareness of one another’s interests and backgrounds.
You begin to understand that by doing, you understand the inter-relationship of things at a deeper level. In all the confusion, emerges some authentically brilliant innovation. Yes, you reach roadblocks. Most people let these roadblocks become challenge killers.
But if you have learned how your brain works, they don’t last long. You might use amazing 3 minute routines, or 8 minute miracles, maybe ultimate centering techniques that keep you moving through the rough times. Mainly, if you come prepared with the right tools coming into the challenge, you know it will go easy more than it gets rough.
I really took on this specific challenge to test how well I’ve mastered the material I teach my students. So when someone asks me “How stressed are you?” I can honestly say, it really doesn’t matter because it won’t last long. If you want to know the secret to my method then I ask you to go check it out for yourself.
